My Life Update

  • Personal Development
Well here we are, almost Christmas and at the end of 2005.

I am still working from home and looking after my 2 boys. My wife is haapy being the main bread winner  (for now) but I know this will not last forever.

It is time to look at my goals for the next year and look back at this year to see how I have performed.
I know I have achieved a number of goals but I have also put some off with some pretty lame excuses. More about this later when I have conducted my yearly review.

Do you set goals for yourself every year?  Do you review them or schrug your shoulders and say "maybe this year". I used toi do that but now I am a little more motivated to achieve at least some of them.

My little tutoring business is going very well at the moment. It has been nice and busy this last few months so I am making the most of it as it will drop off in January and Feb. This is when I will be launching my new project so you ill have to wait and see what it is about.

Ok, thats all for this little bit of inspiration....until next time.

Be happy and do stuff.

Big Gaps between Posts

Haven't we been here before?
Yes it has been a long time between posts again.
Right now I am working on a strategy to potty train a 3 year old.
If you have any suggestions please let me know as I am sure they are better than my efforts so far.
I am convinced he is lazy and thinks doing a twinkle whenever he wants is a good way to go......hey!
I think he is on to something.

Well!! What are you up to today?

  • Personal Development
If you have not made ant plans today you probably will not be as productive as you could be. Thats what I find if I do not plan my days activities in advance. In the very least you should plan you day now if you have not done so already. This way you will at least feel better about the day as you achieve your objectives.
Don't believe me?
Ever tried going through the day with no plans and just letting the day happen to you? You may not even realise it but you probably feel crap for most of the day. Many people go through their lives this way and every day just happens to them. They spend most of their day responding to things that happen to them and say that this is fate. If you are like this you probably are not happy with a lot of things in your life. you may hate your job, want to get fit, earn some money or just get some exitement in your life.

There are a lot of things you can do to start fixing all these negatives in your life. One easy one is to plan to do something in your day. Once you achieve that you can work on planning a number of activities in your day and even start planning your week. Until you try it you will not know the gratification and power you give your self as you achieve your goals and plans for the day.

If you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning, make you plans the night before. Then you have a reason to get out of bed. You will be supprised how much difference this little step makes to the way you approach your day, week and your life in general.

Oh, and, don't just put the plans in your head. WRITE THEM DOWN AND PUT THEM WHERE YOU WILL SEE THEM. Put them on the fridge, next to your bed or on the toilet door. Go on ------ plan your life now.

Big Gaps between Posts

Well it's really not good enough is it.
The truth is, i have been too busy thinking about what I can do to keep motivated and lost my way a little. I suppose this happens to all of us but do not dispair as I am back and getting on track.
Do you have trouble keeping motivated?
I have periods of time when things just seem to go with the motions and I find it hard to pull myself out of a rutt. I purchased an MP3 player the other day and the company (Xbeat) contacted me today and we are looking at some joint promotions later on this year. This has got me exited and put some wind in my sales. I will be selling MP3 players direct from the supplier at prices that will save buyers $100's of dollars, and I get commision on top of that.  If you want to know more about the cheap high quality mp3 players just visit  my tutoring website in the shopping technology section.  Once you are there scroll down and click on the little mp3 player on the left.

Thats all for now. I have to do some tutoring and then start writing some tutorials.

Be assured, the next post will be very soon.

Flight home from Fiji

  • Personal Development
The flight home from Fiji was on a 747 which was a pleaseant supprise. there was video screens in the back of each seat with a good selection of movies to watch. I chose Sky Captain. My almost 3 year old was so excited about the flight home he would not shut up. He was singing and shouting Bula to the flight staff intil I threatened to take him off the plane.

My wife got the seat from hell as the entertainment gear was not working and something was leaking from above her.The flight attendant politely told her it was leaking from the airconditioning which left her to ponder why it smells like some sort of juice.

I took the opportunity to work on my goals while the rest of the world slept. It is funny how you revisit these things after a holiday. he test will be if I stick to my goals.

Fiji Holiday Thursday

  • Personal Development
Today has been pretty good so far, with a great breakfast and a good swim in the pool.
I tried the omellette for breakfast and was pleasently supprised as it tasted just how I wanted it.
My wife enjoyed the sun in the morning until the rain came down. Tropical rain is really heavy sometimes but not chilly like the Melbourne rain we are used to. I stayed in the pool with the 2 year old while it was raining and we thought this was the best fun. It is good to let your kids play in the rain every now and then and what better place to do it than Fiji.

Each night we are eating in a different resturaunt until we have covered them all. We may not eat at the honeymooners one with the kids as they get a little roudy at times.

Quiet Christmas for Virus Writers

  • Personal Development
  • News Alerts Internet
It seams that the virus writers must have taken Christmas off as trend micro reports it discovered only around 2220 new virusses in January. With that many new viruses in a quiet time any wonder it is necessary to have good virus protection on you computer. I have often stated that computer vendors should include a working antivirus solution on every pc they sell even if it has to be included in the price.

The good thing to note is that Microsoft is slowly but surely taking steps to make computers more secure even for the most novice users. Serrvice Pack 2 was a big step in making the average computer user a little safer online with an improved firewall and default settings which leave pcs more secure than before.

The next big battyle is already looming in the area of Spyware and spam. Spam gets a mention with spyware because it is being used more often by spyware, malware users to transport their software onto our computers. I have decidied to pay for a spam rewmoval tool whisch works much like the antivurus programs and you have to pay for yearly subscriptions to keep getting the updates. i have been very happy with the product I have been using as it traps around 250-300 spam mails every day from the 5 e-mail addresses I view from my email client.

Mabe the quiet time is over and the viruses will start pouring in again soon so get ready, update your definitions and bring it on.

Stay at Home Dad

Well here is post no 1 for the Aussie Stay at Home Dad.
Being a stay at home dad (House husband) is a growing trend in Australia and other western countries. It was a big decision for myself and my wife but we have no regrets as yet.
We decided to make this change about 1 year ago and there was a  number of reasons why we did this. I will go into the reasons in future posts and in some of my other titles. I have decided to record my transition into a stay at home dad as a reference for myself and a guide to others who may be considering doing this also.
It can be a scary thing but also rewarding if you have enought thought and planned the change well. We had plenty of time to think about it and the main thing stopping us was money. Tell me something new you all may be saying. Money is often the main reason but not always the one that makes the decision possible for you. some blokes may be thinking of doing this to escape their work life or just to provide stimulation in your life. We have our own reasons and I tell all in future postings.
I do not promise to post everyday but I will log in as time permites and thoghts prevail. Ther are a lot of things I want to talk about from the Dads point of view including my fears thoughts and even some of the funny things that have happened to me in my new role.

I will also talk about 2 special resons why I have done this. My 2 boys Alexander and Nicholas. As I wriight this they are 5 and 2.5 and the time I have experienced with them over the past year has been most special.

I will want to talk about my part of the bargain if I want to continue to be the Aussie Stay At Home Dad and that includes a deal of sorts. For me stay at home I have to start earning some money. I will have lots of stories of how I will do this and here is my promise. I WILL DO THIS!
I have set some goals and motivations to make this possible. to make sure I achieve my goals I will make them public.

I ask you to come back and see my goals and urge me on and help me and I will tell you how I do it.

See you next post

My Job

  • Personal Development happy

I have worked for a large retail chain for nearly 16 years now and I have floated around in the management ranks and earned a fair wage. I have always bonused at each store I have worked at but my quality of family life has always suffered because of this. Sounds familair? Yes well my wife and I decided that with the birth of our 2 boys (2 and 4 at the time of this post) I would spend as much time as I could with them. I have always felt that the father has missed out on a lot time with their children because of the nature of the jobs that they work and the fact every one has to work longer hours and in some cases 2 jobs to make enough money to support the family.

I am lucky in the way that My wife also earns a good wage and she enjoys her job. This gives me the chance and ability to reduce my work load and spend more time with the boys. In fact we have done something drastic....I have surrendered my management career and taken on the role of "home daddy" and I look after the boys while my wife goes to work each day. I still work part time (night fill) just to bring in some wage and "keep my eye in" but I am working to a stage where I dont have to go into work at nights any more.

Posting will increase  from now on as I begin to write my e-book and build my Frontier empire. I will explain myself better in a future post.
